15 Months Adjusted Age

It just doesn't seem possible that Samuel could be 15 months adjusted age today (18 months actual!)  The last three months have sped by without my permission.  Time flies when you're having fun, and OH BOY are we having fun!

Weight:  20-21 lbs
Height:  29 inches
Diapers:  Size 3
Onsies and Shirts:  Size 12-18 mo
Pants:  Size 9 mo. (little legs!)
Shoes:  Size 4.5
Says:  About 20-25 words.  His newest words are 'tractor' and 'hungry.'  He jabbers a lot (a-baa-ga and no-no-ga-da are his favorite)
Sleep:  8pm-7am and takes one nap during the day for about 30min-1hr
Teeth:  11 total!  (All 8 front teeth, 2 molars, and 1 canine)
Therapy:  Developmental, Speech, Physical, and Occupational therapies - he has made so much progress with Speech that his therapist thinks he will not qualify when re-evaluation comes around in March.

Food:  He still eats stage 3 purees, 3 bottles of Pediasure, and his crunchies.  I'm thrilled to say that, as of this week, his Occupational and Speech therapists have a game plan and are working specifically on feeding (FINALLY!!!!)  OT says that he seeks tactile sensory input but is defensive orally - "If you were born 16 weeks early, had a tube down your throat for months, poked and prodded for ages, and put in a plastic box in a noisy room full of beeping monitors - you might have a few sensory issues too!"  She seemed confident that we would be making headway soon.

Loves:  Books.  When he plops down in my lap with a book, his face lights up.  He would have me read to him the entire day.  It's gotten so bad that I had to put a baby gate up so that he can't get to his library - I couldn't get anything done!  For a few days I felt like the worst parent in the world.  What mom doesn't want her kid to read?  But I finally decided that there has to be some balance...

Hates:  Having his teeth brushed, diaper changes, coming inside after he's been playing outside, long trips in the car, and squishy food.

Cuteness:  I don't know if I can sum up all the cuteness.  I love how every adult is 'daddy', every kid (no matter how old) is 'baby', and all animals are 'kitty.'  Cracks me up how defensive a 10 year old gets at being called 'baby' by a toddler.  Haha.  I love how he crawls into our laps when he wants attention...how he sleeps on his belly with his booty in the air...his fake cry when he's mad...the way he knows what's coming next in a movie or book...his boyish facination with the great outdoors.  My absolute favorite thing is when we get out the book, "Have You Seen My Cat?" by Eric Carle.  On each page Samuel says, "No, no, go-daka" meaning, "No, that's not my cat!"  It's hilarious.

Yup, that's right...he's a pretty great kid.  I think I'll keep him!

  2. All I can say is miracle miracle. When I read your blog or a few others, or watch Josie Duggar grow on 19 Kids and Counting, it just makes me feel blessed to live in this country where there are so many possibilities. Samuel is a gift from God. He is blessed to have such wonderful attentive parents.

  3. Very adorable! Especially the way he sleeps. :)

Don't know if you've tried this with the tooth brushing but as a babysitter I used to have the brush be a race car and the child's teeth were the track. You are the announcer as the "car" goes all around the "track", back corners, etc. It's a good way to get a kid to brush their teeth thoroughly and not put up a fight because they are having fun.

Samuel might be too young for this but maybe you could come up with some other game. Good luck!
