Whew! What A Week!

In case you didn't catch the title, it's been a crazy week for us!  Needless to say, I'm glad it's the weekend!

Monday morning Samuel woke up in a foul mood.  I thought he was just teething, but I took him in to the doctor anyway.  Everything checked out except for his weight (20lbs.)  He had lost 3 ounces since his appointment a month ago.  They asked that I bring him in again on Friday to re-weigh.

Wednesday morning I took Samuel to the pulmonologist for a quick check-up.  Everything went well.  His weight was a whopping 20lbs 8oz (8oz more than his appointment on Monday) and he was 29 inches long!  I don't think he gained half a pound in two days...I assume it was a difference in scales.  The pulmonologist finally discontinued his O2 prescription and told the medical supply company to pick it up from our house (she had previously told us that we could take him off at night, but we would need to keep a few O2 tanks in case he needed them.)  The supply company hasn't picked everything up yet, but I'll be posting pictures of that exciting event when it happens!

Wednesday afternoon, I received a call from my mom saying that their property was on fire (a brush fire that had already burned countless acres in my hometown) and told me that my dad and brother were out in 115 degree temperatures fighting the fire with all of the local fire departments.  Michael and I quickly loaded Samuel up and traveled the 1.5 hrs to their house to check on everyone and help out as we could.  Thankfully they managed to get the firebreak finished before the fire could spread any closer to the house.  We loaded back up and arrived home around 1am.

Friday morning we had an 8am doctor's appointment to be re-weighed and to receive one vaccinne (to my delight, we found a doctor willing to let us use an alternative shot schedule!)  His weight was 20lbs 13oz....the third entirely unique weigh-in for the week.  That afternoon, we attended our friend's wedding (congrats Andrea and Eric Holder!) and managed to get home around 11pm.

This morning we've been hanging out with some good friends who also attended the wedding.  Samuel loves Bobby and Brandi!  It was the most relaxing morning we've had in a while.  Unfortunately Samuel's eating issues have flared up once again (ie...doesn't want to eat and vomits frequently) and we are hoping it's short lived.

Here are some pictures of our morning with Bob and Brandi...

  1. What a week. I'm so thankful it all turned out reasonably well. So happy your parents didn't have it any worse and congrats on the end of oxygen. Coincidentally Samuel is close to the same size at one year adjusted as my daughter who came home from the hospital at 4 pounds 14 ounces. She's still small but healthy.

  2. Wow! What a week! I have to say that the pic at the end is so so so adorable. Hopefully Samuel is having a better weekend with eating. It can be so frustrating!!!
