Wet Diaper

We are praying for a BIG WET DIAPER tonight....I know that seems funny but we need our little boy to drain. His kidneys still haven't kicked in yet. The doctors put him on a steriod for a few days in hopes of getting things going. If Samuel's fluids would balance out to normal levels, we would be in better shape.
The doctors are testing the fluid coming from his abdominal tube to make sure that it isn't urine. We really really really want them to say that it isn't.
Samuel's blood pressure is currently a little better. They have dropped some of his blood pressure medicine down but they think it's only because they have given him so much fluid...and he is retaining it.

On a more light hearted note....have I mentioned that we keep seeing the number 19 a lot? Michael and I were married on the 19th of July. We started dating the 19th of April (which is also Michael's parent's anniversary.) Samuel was born on the 19th of March at 1:09 (the one and the nine in there too.) He weighed 1 pound 9 ounces. Oh and did I mention we met the family with 19 kids??? haha.

  1. I hope and pray that the BIG wet diaper comes. I remember after giving birth to my son, we had to pray PRAY for a poopie diaper. Who would have thought. Not something that crosses your mind as a new mom. I'm also praying that you can find strength in the other mom's and dad's that are going through the same thing. Love Peace and Hope to you and your son.

  2. It is amazing how we get excited over a wet or poopie diaper! I remember doing the same with my baby brother -- over a poopie diaper. For him it usually meant a hospital stay or worse...surgery --- if we didn't have a poopie diaper. :-) You, Michael and Samuel are continually in my thoughts and prayers, as well as the rest of the family. It is such a difficult time and it makes it even more difficult when all you can do is wait. Just know that you are loved.

  5. I do not know you, but a friend of mine on xanga (kowpatty) has been posting prayer requests for you and your baby. I have been praying for you all ever since she informed me. I spent seven weeks in the NICU with my son last summer, and I have dear friends who spent a lot of time in the NICU, too. I just wanted to encourage you that in the worst moments, God sees your tears, He knows your pain, and He loves your little baby more than you can even imagine.
