Day 121
Weight: 5 lbs 6 oz
Carolyn talked to the nurse practitioner this morning and asked them to let us 'room in' Monday and Tuesday nights only - so that I can sleep these last few nights. I'm good with that. We should still be able to go home on Wednesday.
As I've mentioned before, Samuel's feeds are thickened to help with swallowing. They are thickened to a 'nectar' consistency by the lactation department then sent to his bedside. The nurse today didn't realize that his feeds were already thickened....so she added more Simply Thick. I only realized what she was doing on the fourth feed - he had already had three feeds with double thickener. I would appreciate your prayers tonight that it won't have any negative side effects on Samuel's intestines. If he didn't have a past history of intestinal issues I wouldn't be so worried.
Besides that particular mistake, everything else is going smoothly. I'm so happy he is doing well.
Hopefully it will only be a tiny temporary issue if any from the mistake. It all sounds so promising now and wishing you well next week to get ready to go home and have him to yourselves. The NICU journey is almost over!
ReplyDeletePraying, praying, praying....Everyone is so excited about Samuel's homecoming!!!!! Get some rest honey!
