Heart Rate

Day 69
Weight: 3 lbs 4 oz

Answered prayers (yay!):
Samuel's heart EKG came back perfectly normal!!! Whoohoo! That doesn't ABSOLUTELY mean that he won't come home with oxygen, but it does mean that the chances are greater that he won't. They will do a final EKG before Samuel goes home here in a month or two.
Also, Samuel's eye exam came back good as well. So far he is not showing signs of his retinas detaching. Unfortunately though, his eye development isn't far enough along where we can turn up Samuel's oxygen (and therefore not watch the monitors alarm.)
And another bit of good news.....Samuel's urine output picked up a lot yesterday. I don't think it's going to be enough to convince his doctor into not using Lasix, but at least there was an improvement! Dr. Arrington told me that he would probably put Samuel back on the Lasix by the end of the week (I'm not sure what that is dependent on....)

There weren't many changes made today during rounds. I had a conversation with Samuel's doctor about what is better for Samuel.....his oxygen level in his blood dropping and his heartrate dropping or Samuel's eye development. I'd like to go back up on the oxygen enough so that Samuel isn't being oxygen deprived. Essentially Dr. Arrington feels that the swings Samuel is making isn't enough to be concerned about compared to the risk of blindness.

More to pray for:
Just after the doctors bragged on Samuel's progress today, Samuel began dropping his heartrate. A LOT. His nurse is beginning to show signs of worry. We really don't know what is causing the problem. PLEASE pray that he isn't getting sick or that something isn't really wrong. This is the most frequently he has dropped his heartrate since he has been sick.

  2. Praise the Lord! I know that many people are praying and knows that God is going to take care of that little boy.
